Scheduling & Dress Code

When can I volunteer and what can I wear?

Do I have to volunteer the same day and time each week?

Yes, you will have a set schedule each week.

Can I volunteer more than once a week?

In order to give an opportunity to as many people as possible, each volunteer will be assigned one shift per week.

What days and times are available to volunteer?

Your volunteer shift times will depend on the Volunteer Assignment that you are placed in.  Shifts are 3-4 hours long, once a week.

Is there a dress code?

Volunteers wear our uniform in order to be identifiable at any campus by all staff/faculty/patients and family members.  The uniform consists of a vest or apron which is to be worn OVER your appropriate shirt/blouse.

Appropriate shirts to wear underneath include:

  • Short sleeve, ¾ sleeve, or long sleeve shirts (Please note: Volunteers in the ICN must not wear shirts which extend below the elbows)
  • Turtlenecks or light sweaters
  • Button up shirts or blouses
  • Polos or collared shirts

Inappropriate clothing includes:

  • Clothing with inappropriate pictures, statements, words or advertising
  • Exposed undergarments, cleavage, halter tops, tank tops, tube tops and bare midriff
  • No casual / work-out attire, i.e. t-shirts/sweatshirts with or without hoodies
  • Blue jeans, shorts, leggings, sweat pants, flip-flops, sandals, open toed shoes, and hats are NOT permitted

Additionally, when you decide to stop volunteering for us, you must return your vest and badge to the Volunteer and Guest Services Department before you leave.
