Wendy J. Reese

Director, Volunteer & Guest Services

A native of Southern California, Wendy moved to the Bay Area in 2014 after working at The University of Chicago Medical Center. Wendy has also worked in the UC family before, spending several years in the UC San Diego Health System. Wendy has been in volunteer management for over 15 years, both in higher education and the health care industry. 

In the division of UCSF Health Experience, Wendy is the Director of Volunteer & Guest Services with oversight for many of the front-facing, first-impression areas at our three main hospitals where Volunteer & Guest Services representatives are placed.  She also is responsible for leading the operations and strategic planning as well as the financials.

She has three married adult sons and three grandchildren (and two more due in 2018.) In her time away from work, Wendy volunteers for Street Life Ministries on the peninsula and is involved in her community and Life Group through Menlo Park Church.



Amy Sanders

Manager, Volunteer & Guest Services

Amy manages Volunteer and Guest Services at Parnassus, Mission Bay and Mount Zion.  She has 12 years of Volunteer Leadership experience in healthcare, and has returned to her home state of California from AMITA Health in Illinois and prior to that Banner Health in Arizona.  Amy has earned her CAVS credential, as a certified administrator of Volunteer Services, which is the highest volunteer administrator leadership credential in the United States.

Kathleen Grusenski

Business Systems Analyst, Volunteer & Guest Services

Kathleen is thrilled to serve as the Business Systems Analyst for Volunteer and Guest Services. A New Jersey native, Kathleen's career has taken her across the country, including several years of volunteer and program management in the Midwest. She is a former House Manager at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin, and is dedicated to creating an exceptional experience for UCSF volunteers.

Kathleen is passionate about dancing and traveling,and enjoys exploring the Bay Area with her husband and Australian Cattle Dog, Listo. When not at UCSF, you can catch her teaching dance classes at ODC Dance/Rhythm and Motion in San Francisco's Mission Neighborhood.


Jennifer Satake

Volunteer Coordinator, Parnassus

A native San Franciscan, Jennifer has grown up around the UCSF community.  Her mom, a retired UCSF nurse, first introduced Jennifer to the medical center when she attended the Child Care Study Center for pre-school. She took swimming lessons every summer at the Millberry Union and was a UCSF High School Summer Student Volunteer at age 14. 

Jennifer attended UC Davis and after graduating worked at a local TV station for a few years before returning to UCSF in 2007 as an administrative assistant for the Volunteer Services Department.  She has been a volunteer coordinator since 2014.  In Jennifer’s free time, she likes to explore the outdoors with her husband, cook and try out new recipes, and learn how to knit.




Keith Ackerson

Volunteer Coordinator, Parnassus

A Seattle native, Keith moved to San Francisco in 2000 and joined UCSF in 2008.  Prior to joining the Volunteer Services Department, Keith worked with UCSF’s Center for Geriatric Care where he became very involved in creating a positive experience for patients and their families.

In his free time, Keith enjoys going on adventures with his wife and daughter and volunteering with an extension of the SPCA.

Lauren Franklin

Volunteer Coordinator, Mission Bay

Lauren graduated from San Francisco State in May of 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Physiology. She has proudly served with our team since November 2016. 

Prior to joining the UCSF Volunteer and Guest Services Team she worked as an Intake Coordinator at Sutter Health, but also has experience as a receptionist, library assistant, and private tutor/mentor.  

As a Volunteer Coordinator at Mission Bay her warm spirit and happy smile are appreciated by the volunteers and staff. She exemplifies  P.R.I.D.E. (professionalism, respect, integrity, dignity and excellence) by creating a great work environment for her team and amazing UCSF volunteers.
